  • Where Are Your Classes Held?
    The majority of our tutored classes and workshops take place in our main studio in Newhaven. We also host a regular pop-up event called "Drink and Draw" on the last Wednesday of the month at the Safari Lounge.
  • Where is the Main Studio Located?
    Our permanent studio is based in The Attic Room at The Heart of Newhaven Community, an old Victorian school. Our address is: 4 - 6 Main Street, Newhaven EH6 4HY
  • How Can I Get to the Studio by Public Transport?
    We are located just a few minutes' walk from the Newhaven Tram terminus and the stop for the numbers 11 and 16 buses.
  • How do I Find the Studio Inside the Building?
    Enter through the main reception door and follow the corridor straight ahead. Our studio is on the top floor. Head up the stairs to the top floor until you reach the flamingo, take a sharp right then a left along the corridor. You'll find our studio at the end.
  • Is there Parking Available?
    Yes, there is plenty of free parking available on the adjoining streets.
  • What are the Opening Hours of the Studio?
    The studio is open during scheduled class times. When arriving for a booked session you are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the class
  • Where is your Pop Up Venue 'The Safari Lounge'?
    The Safari Lounge is located at: 21 Cadzow Place Edinburgh EH7 5SN It's a popular local pub with a unique atmosphere. Look and Draw has been hosting its monthly "Drink and Draw" events there since 2018.   • Are your Class Venues Accessible?
    Unfortunately, our two current spaces are not wheelchair accessible. Main Studio (The Heart of Newhaven): Located on the top floor, which requires climbing stairs. Monthly Pop-Up Venue (Safari): Situated downstairs, accessible by a narrow staircase, which limits accessibility. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are actively seeking more accessible programming for future classes, including outdoor sessions and utilising other areas of the building at The Heart of Newhaven.
  • What Levels do your Classes Cater For?
    We offer classes for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. Our tutored classes always feature a mix of abilities, and we actively encourage this diversity within our groups. Our studio practice class is designed for individuals with some experience in art making, who wish to develop their own unique art practice with guidance and support.
  • What's Included in the Price of a Tutored Class?
    To make your art experience as seamless as possible, the cost of your tutored art class covers: All Art Materials: We provide all the essential materials tailored to each course. Just show up and create! Expert Tuition: Benefit from the guidance of our experienced tutors. Refreshments: Enjoy tea, coffee, and biscuits during the break. Model Fees (for Life Drawing Classes): The cost includes model fees, so there's nothing extra to pay.
  • What Should I Wear to the Class?
    A wide range of art materials, including charcoal, pastels, inks, and paints, are available in our studio. The specific materials used will vary depending on the course and project. To be prepared for potential mess, we recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
  • What is the Typical Structure of a Tutored Art Class?
    Our tutored art classes generally follow this format: Introduction: A short slide presentation and/or demonstration to introduce the session's focus. Hands-On Art-Making: Time dedicated to creating art. Break: A short pause for refreshments. Group Critique: An opportunity for students to receive feedback and learn from each other. Please note that the specific structure may vary depending on the class and tutor.
  • What's Included in the Ticket Price for Sunday Life Drawing?
    Your Sunday Life Drawing ticket includes: Access to the studio and life drawing model Use of easels, boards, and clips Refreshments: A selection of hot drinks and biscuits during breaks. Please note that materials for drawing (paper, pencils, etc.) are not included and need to be brought by participants.
  • How Can I Book?
    Online Booking: Select your desired class or workshop on our website. Complete the booking and payment process to pay in full. Eventbrite Booking: Pay a £30 deposit through Eventbrite. An additional booking fee will apply. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the class start date.   • Is there a Specific Payment Method Accepted on Look and Draw's Website?
    Yes, Look and Draw accepts credit card, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay for transactions on their website.
  • What is your Cancellation Policy for Workshops and Art Classes at Look & Draw
    Cancellations and Refunds Cancellation by Look & Draw: If Look & Draw cancels a class or workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, you will be offered an alternative class or a full refund. Cancellation by Participant: 14 Days or More Before Start: A full refund will be issued, minus a £30 non-refundable holding deposit. The holding deposit secures your place and contributes to administrative costs. Within 14 Days of Start: No refunds can be provided. However, we may offer a discount on a future class at our discretion. After Term Has Started: No refunds can be offered for classes already commenced.
